Daddy Cool Set for National Tour

As I’ve mentioned several times before, one of the things I love about my job is being able to speak to some of my musical heroes.

From my early years listening to my brother’s Daddy Cool albums through to singing along to Mondo Rock on the radio in the eighties and then onto his solo work, I’ve always appreciated the incredible musical talent of Ross Wilson.

No party in Australia is complete without Daddy Cool’s song Eagle Rock pumping through the speakers but Ross Wilson has contributed a lot more than that one song to the soundtrack of our lives.

I was absolutely thrilled tonight to hear the news that Ross is getting the band back together and embarking on a national tour with Daddy Cool. It’ll be the first tour for the guys in 33 years. Details of dates and venues are expected to be released in the coming days.

The tour was announced during tonight’s final of the Channel 7 programme, It Takes Two, where All Saints actress Jolene Anderson and David Campbell were announced as winners of the second series. Ross Wilson is a judge on the programme.

I saw Ross live in concert in March this year and it was magnificent to hear a lot of the Daddy Cool favourites but it’ll be even better with the original group.

I spoke to Ross Wilson in the lead up to the March concert during my radio programme on 98.5 Sonshine FM. You can hear our conversation using the media player below.
